Apple announced financial results for its fiscal 2012 first quarter. The company posted record quarterly revenue of $46.33 billion and record quarterly net profit of $13.06 billion.
Apple sold 37.04 million iPhones in the quarter, 15.43 million iPads, 5.2 million Macs and 15.4 million iPods.Apple shares rose more than 6% Wednesday and their value was higher than Exxon Mobile and become the most valuable company in the world. Exxon came back late in the day with just a slight share price increase.
“We’re thrilled with our outstanding results and record-breaking sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
